Social Media Revolution

I've been totally enthralled by the wave of social media into our culture and the marketing of businesses. There is so much great information out there on the web about social media and the changes that are here to stay. Mashable.com has to be my favorite. They really keep me on the up n up when wanting to know about social media. This morning I am trying out a new web browser that allows me to have all of my social media in one spot. It called Flock. Ill post an update after I have used it for a while and let you guys know how its going. Check out this social media video.

Childhood Obesity TImeline

Information graphics meets the childhood obesity epidemic. As part of a term-long project, I created a timeline of anti-obesity laws and effort in the U.S. Then juxtaposed that information with the physical inactivity of the United States through the last decade.

She did it again!

So I just have to post this for my friends and family down south. These are killer animations made from the amazing illustrations of one of my design professors at PSU. This person blows me away with something new every week. I am starting to believe that she's half robot because she manages to teach, advise, work and build personal relationships with so many of us at school. Apparently, in her spare time she is saving the world, the proof is in the videos WATCH THEM NOW.

Here are the pics of my oregonian stuff.

Newport Seafood and Wine Festival

Thank you to all my friends for the wonderful time at the coast. Especially you Bo. I am glad I got to attend the famous festival. I missed the memo on the sweatshirts. I'll have to design next year's. Zindy I think you should have a balloon tied to your legs at all times, it was so easy to keep track of you. Fun times playing circle of death with Mike, he always cracks me up. It was so good to unwind, now it's back to the grind.

I Heart Oregon -- Flash

Here is a Flash Animation that I made. I am trying to figure out how to post these types of things here so that everyone can view them. In my process, I am having a little trouble with format, as you are not supposed to be able to see certain parts of this animation. Either way here it is in the raw.

Violet Beauregarde's 3- Course Gum

Here is some of my latest work. I was tasked with creating a candy brand from scratch so I decided to re-create an old favorite, Voilet Beauregarde's 3-Course gum. You know you all wish it was real so you could try it and see if it really went from tomato soup to roast beef and then blueberry pie. I tried to find some good images of violet to use but they don't really exist. (old movie) Anyway, let me know what you think. I took colors from existing Wonka candies and so techniques as well so that it would try to blend well with the existing brand.

Wine and Food

Looking forward to tomorrow's wine competition. We (the Steering Committee) finally choose a winner for the art competition. Jennifer Lommer and her acrylic painting won. Although it is a lovely painting, I have had a heck of a time getting it to work with this years ad campaign and branding style. Anyway, here is the first round poster draft. I will update with the final. If you're not already planning on being at this year's event as a volunteer, you can go to the website and purchase tickets here.

3. Props to Carissa for liberating herself with a haircut after ten years. Lookin' good girl!
4. Redesigning the Oregonian is a real life situation in that designers often get paid projects that they have no interest in. aka (I have no interest in redesigning the Oregonian ...BORING)

On the radio (what i'm listening to lately)
Pandora's Grunge - the Seattle Scene and Police radio (bringing back the 80's)

Designs coming up:
Redesign of Culture Magazine (unique to me). This magazine I stumbled upon at Shelby's is all about cheese. I think it will be a fun project to do something elegant and fun at the same time. Who doesn't love cows and cheese, hello!

iPhone App for the Oregonian

Happy Sunday people, so we got a glimpse of the sun yesterday for a couple hours. That was nice while it lasted, now back to the rain :( Here is a pic of an iphone app in the works. Having serious color issues (don't like 'em). Kinda fun designing to the iPhone since it is the best phone/handheld device ever created. Sorry to all the crackberry users. If you have comments or critique for this project, post them to flicker here.

NIA - The Best Workout

Portland staters if you want a good workout in the middle of your school day, attend NIA. This class is packed with martial arts, hippie dance forms, and overall happiness. The instructor is crazy which is always fun. The setting is amazing and what's not to love about moving energy around the room. Carissa and ShelbyJo, get your buns up here and check it out. Who knew you could get dance, sweat, lay on the ground and shower in the middle of the day...I know I already told you but man Bo we are so lucky!

I've created a beast

For all you facebookers out there...check out my husband (befriend him). 4 days ago Nick didn't know how to turn the computer on. Who knew facebook would be the motivator. Oh yeah, and Ryan showing Nick the satisfaction of Pandora helped a lot too. Shout out to ShelbyJo here in my living room, as we click click click the web...

The Oregonian

Fun Times - Let's Do It!

Here we go, time to get with the program and practice typing, reflecting, posting and living. It's 2010, and quite frankly, if I can do all of my talking about myself on this blog, then maybe I can be more present for others in the real world.
